Assurance-heavy environments need disciplined control. The mistake is assuming that more meetings, dashboards and templates automatically create it. Control comes from clear ownership, reliable evidence and timely decisions.
Every artefact needs a job
Every recurring artefact should have a named consumer and a decision or obligation it supports. If nobody acts differently after reading it, the programme should challenge why suitably qualified people are spending time producing it.
Purposeful governance protects delivery
Good governance makes delivery easier to understand and harder to avoid. It does not replace accountability with process, and it does not force technical teams to translate the same evidence into several slightly different formats.
